Acceptable Use
The rules for using Lead io responsibly — no spam, no misuse of lead data, no harassment or fraud, and respect for the people behind public business information.
Who this applies to
This policy applies to every account, free or paid. The Terms of Service remain the binding agreement; this page sets out the conduct we expect in plain language. Acceptable use is also part of our responsible outreach controls and verified lead rules.
What is not allowed
- Sending spam or unlawful outreach — messages that breach CAN-SPAM, GDPR, PECR, or the laws where you operate. Honor opt-outs and removal requests.
- Misleading senders — sending from a sender or business you do not genuinely represent, or hiding who the message is from.
- Harassing people — using business contact data to harass, threaten, or target individuals.
- Reselling raw lead data — republishing bulk lead exports as a standalone dataset without our written consent.
- Impersonation — pretending to be another business or claiming authority you do not have.
- Circumventing limits — automating actions or creating multiple accounts to exceed your plan's daily lead limits or other quotas.
- Illegal or fraudulent use — any use of Lead io that is unlawful, deceptive, or designed to defraud.
The people behind the data
Every lead is a real business run by real people. Treat each one the way you would want to be treated: be clear about who you are, respect "no", and stop immediately when asked. Where a record touches an individual's personal data, follow the privacy law that applies to you.
Enforcement
We take reported misuse seriously. We may warn, restrict, or close accounts that break these rules, as described further in the Terms of Service. If a message you received is spam or an attempt to defraud you, report it to us so we can act.
