Compliance summary
A plain-language companion to the Terms of Service and Privacy Notice: where Lead io gets its data, how your data is handled, and what you are responsible for when you use the leads.
Why this page exists
Lead io researches public business information. Depending on where you and the businesses you contact are located, different laws can apply to your outreach. This page maps the practical facts about Lead io in one place, so you can check your own obligations against them. The Terms of Service and Privacy Notice remain the binding documents.
Where research data comes from
Lead io finds businesses from public sources and verifies contact details before you reach out. Specifically, research uses:
- Google Places for business listings.
- OpenStreetMap and Overpass for business locations and details.
- Tavily and Firecrawl to read the business's own public website.
- AI providers (including Groq and Gemini) to score lead quality — the sources are public, and no fabricated leads are produced.
Contact details come from what the business has published publicly. That is why the Terms of Service explain that results depend on what businesses publish, and why we verify contacts rather than promising ones we cannot find.
How your data is handled
- Lead io does not store Google review text; scores are based on the public signals available at research time.
- When you connect a mail server so Lead io can send on your behalf, the SMTP details you provide are stored and used for that purpose — sending happens from the sender you connect, not from us.
- You keep ownership of the search terms, offer details, and outreach text you provide; we process them to operate the service for you, as described in the Privacy Notice.
- On termination, your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Notice.
Your responsibilities
You decide how to use the lead data. Our role is to research and verify; yours is to use it lawfully. In particular:
- Only message recipients you are lawfully allowed to contact, following CAN-SPAM, GDPR, PECR, and any laws that apply where you operate.
- Honor opt-outs and removal requests without delay.
- Do not mislead recipients about who you are or which business you represent.
- Stay inside our responsible outreach controls and verified lead rules described in the Terms of Service and our Acceptable Use Policy.
Verification and limits
- Exact-count guarantee: we will not return more leads than you asked for, and we never invent a lead to fill a quota.
- Area rule: searches stay within the surrounding metropolitan area of the location you choose.
- Public-data limit: a search may return fewer leads than you asked for because of what businesses have published. This is not a fault and is covered by the Refund Policy.
